Press Release
Former AR for Sense Network with more than 20 years of industry experience, Matt Ryder takes on a mentoring brief to support breakaway advisers navigating one of the most significant decisions of their careers.
Financial Solutions, the adviser network built for IFAs seeking a credible alternative to the consolidator model, has appointed Matt Ryder, founder of MBR, to join the network.
Ryder brings more than 20 years of experience in financial services. He was previously an Appointed Representative of Sense Network, where he built a strong reputation among fellow advisers. His role at Financial Solutions is a dual one: running his own AR under the network umbrella while taking on a mentoring function to support advisers who are considering breaking away from their existing network or consolidator.
The breakaway moment is one Financial Solutions has made central to its proposition. Leaving an established network or consolidator is rarely a purely commercial calculation, and Ryder understands that as well as anyone. His brief is to be a resource for advisers at that point of decision, and in the months that follow it.
Ryder spent three years training and developing advisers during his time in banking, and has continued to support peers informally throughout his career. His view of what good adviser development looks like is rooted in experience rather than theory. He is frank about the limits of a purely technical approach to professional growth, and equally plain-spoken about what the breakaway process actually involves for most advisers.
Matt Ryder, Founder, MBR, says:
“The qualifications matter, but they are not the whole story. I spent years watching advisers pass exam after exam and still struggle in front of a client. The things that make the real difference are harder to teach and take longer to develop. How you listen. How you challenge someone on what they actually want rather than just recording what they say. How you build a relationship that lasts years rather than a transaction that ends at the next review.
Breaking away is the same kind of thing. On paper it is a practical decision. In reality there is a lot of anxiety, a lot of second-guessing, and for most advisers it is the first time they have had to back themselves completely. I have been through it. I want to be the person who helps others through it too.”

Building the Investment Proposition
Alongside his mentoring work, Ryder will contribute to supporting new members to develop their investment proposition. The aim is to give advisers a clear, practical framework that supports genuine independence without creating unnecessary paperwork or compliance risk.
Leanne Williams, Managing Director, Financial Solutions, says:
“Bringing Matt into the network is a significant moment for us. He has 20 years of doing this properly, and he understands what advisers go through when they are weighing up a move.
Breaking away is not just a business decision and it is not something every adviser finds straightforward, however experienced they are. Having someone in the network who has lived through it, and who is genuinely committed to helping others do the same, is exactly the kind of thing that makes Financial Solutions different. We are very glad to have him.”
