Planning for later life & care.

Where wealth goes to die…or does it?

What's it all about?

The UK is in the middle of the largest intergenerational wealth transfer in history, around £5.5 trillion over the next three decades. But up to 80% of beneficiaries change adviser after inheriting, and a huge chunk of that wealth never reaches the next generation at all because it's consumed by care. This event is built to help you hold those relationships and have the conversations early.

We've lined up two provider-led sessions and two practical workshops:

  • Estate planning in practice: gifting strategies and the seven-year rule, gifts from surplus income, discretionary and bare trusts, gift and loan trusts, whole-of-life cover written in trust, and where well-meaning planning trips up over deprivation of assets

  • Workshop 1: Turning the routine annual review into a later-life planning engagement, vulnerability identification under Consumer Duty, Power of Attorney prompts, and the language that gets a productive conversation started without being morbid. Includes role-play and worked examples.

  • Funding care: immediate needs annuities, the £23,250 means-test threshold, NHS Continuing Healthcare and Funded Nursing Care, equity release, and drawdown vs ISAs vs property wealth

  • Workshop 2: how to integrate later-life work into the practice you're already running, including the SOLLA / CeLTCI qualification pathway, when to refer in vs refer out, fee structures, and how to build relationships with beneficiaries before the transfer happens
